Meeting Committee 

The Office Bearers of the International Deaf Film Association (IDFA) shall organize and host the Deaf Film Awards Festival annually, in accordance with the Association’s rules and regulations and all applicable laws.

The Meeting Committee shall be responsible for planning, coordinating, and overseeing the annual festival. It shall ensure that all festival activities are conducted properly and in compliance with the Association’s rules and regulations and all applicable laws.

03  —  Exhibitions & Workshops

Memebers Worldwide

The International Deaf Film Association (IDFA) shall establish and maintain connections with Deaf communities, filmmakers, organizations, and members throughout the world. It shall continually promote the Association and provide the public with information about the Deaf Film Awards Festival.

Interactive Workshops

Worldwide Members of IDFA shall be authorized to assist in planning and supporting the Association’s international activities, including:

  1. Planning and promoting the annual Deaf Film Awards Festival.
  2. Coordinating with Deaf film organizations and members in different countries.
  3. Supporting the selection and promotion of films created by Deaf and hearing filmmakers.
  4. Sharing information worldwide about IDFA events, programmes, and awards.
  5. Supporting international communication, cultural activities, and film development.
  6. Performing any other duties authorized by the IDFA Office Bearers in accordance with IDFA’s rules and regulations.

04  —  Theater & Folk Dances

Presentations

The Co-Founder, Chairman, and CEO of the International Deaf Film Association (IDFA) shall deliver presentations to Deaf and hearing audiences worldwide about Deaf films, filmmakers, actors, directors, awards, festivals, Deaf culture, and visual storytelling.

The presentations may address:

  1. The history and development of Deaf cinema.
  2. The Deaf Film Awards and the international recognition of Deaf cinema.
  3. IDFA film festivals and international programmes.
  4. The work and achievements of Deaf and hearing filmmakers and artists.
  5. Accessible subtitles, captions, and sign language communication.
  6. Deaf culture, history, and representation in cinema.
  7. International opportunities for Deaf and hearing film professionals.
  8. Future plans for Deaf films, awards, and festivals worldwide.

The purpose of these presentations shall be to promote equality, inclusion, cultural understanding, and international cooperation between Deaf and hearing people through film and the arts.

Deaf History Early Deaf Films & Museum Connection

The International Deaf Film Association (IDFA) shall promote, preserve, and protect Deaf history and heritage, including early and historical Deaf films, photographs, documents, cultural materials, and museum collections from countries around the world.

The IDFA Deaf History and Museum Programme shall provide opportunities for Deaf and hearing children, adults, families, filmmakers, researchers, and members of the general public to learn about the history, culture, achievements, and experiences of Deaf people throughout the ages.

The collection may include:

  1. Early and historical Deaf films and videos.
  2. Historical photographs, documents, records, and other archival materials.
  3. Materials relating to Deaf artists, actors, filmmakers, and cultural leaders.
  4. Materials concerning Deaf schools, organizations, communities, and significant historical events.
  5. The history and development of sign languages and methods of communication.
  6. Exhibitions, artefacts, and museum displays from different countries.
  7. Stories documenting the lives, achievements, and contributions of Deaf people worldwide.
  8. Educational programmes for children, adults, families, and the general public.

The purpose of the programme shall be to preserve Deaf heritage and make Deaf history accessible to Deaf and hearing people worldwide, promoting education, cultural understanding, and the preservation of this heritage for future generations.

The exhibition will explore the history, experiences, relationships, and cultural heritage of Deaf and hearing people around the world, from ancient civilizations to the present day.

It will feature historical records, artworks, photographs, films, sign language traditions, communication methods, museum objects, and significant stories relating to Deaf people and their interactions with hearing communities.
